Typical Project Engagement
Each
client will have specific needs of course, but a typical project normally
proceeds like this.
You should provide us
with a description of the project. This description should include an
overview of the database's purpose, process flow (how you will use it),
and any special functions (things like what you need the database to
connect to outside of Access like Excel Spreadsheets or text files). A
simple outline format is best for the first description of the database.
Further details can be worked out in future communications. We also
need to collect artifacts such as paper forms, spreadsheets, etc that you
use to accomplish the tasks that we want to automate.
We will then contact you
to discuss the requirements and afterwards will provide you with a fixed
price quote and estimated timing for the project. We will also provide a
list of deliverables (see below).
Initial Consultation
We visit you and discuss your needs. We look at your requirements and
plans and any existing system(s) that you may already be using, such as
Excel spreadsheets, a basic Access system or a manual paper-based system.
Outline Proposal
We
provide a basic overview of how the proposed system will work, guideline
costs and approximate timescale.
Detailed Investigation
Further
meetings are held to define the details of how you need the system to
operate and screen layouts are drawn up to illustrate how things will
look.
Final Proposal
A detailed specification is agreed and a firm quotation of costs, terms
and delivery dates are provided.
Implementation
Your application will mostly be developed in our offices. The
application is then installed on your machines at your site. We then
train your staff in the use of the system. After further consultation with
your staff, final adjustments to the system are made.
On-Going Support
All major developments are backed by a 3-month warranty period during
which any bugs or problems will be fixed free of charge. Telephone support
to provide assistance in the use of the system is also provided. An annual
support agreement is available after this period to extend these services
if required. The cost of this will be quoted in the final proposal.
A typical Access project
(3-10 days) will be broken down into several deliverables. If you
authorize us to start, then we will develop and deliver the 1st
deliverable
First Deliverable
Detailed requirements, User interface concept, concept screens.
After some re-working and
fine tuning of the first deliverable, based on your input, you may accept
this product at which time we expect payment for time spent to date. If
you are not satisfied with this deliverable then no payment is required
and the project will stop.
Second Deliverable
Beta Application, Draft Documentation.
With this deliverable,
you should take time to test and evaluate the application fully and make
note of any thing that does not work correctly or match up to the
requirements document from the first deliverable. We will list those
items with a resolution plan. If you accept this deliverable we expect
payment for the time required to deliver phase two. Upon your approval we
will continue to develop the next deliverable of the project.
Third Deliverable
Final Product, Final Documentation, Installation and start up.
Optional Services
Optional Services at your request include training, multi-site
installation and oversight of initial production use.
Warranty
After the project is completed we will fix any programming errors at no
charge for three full months.
